Beaded Picture Frame Workshop Date: April 14, 2012
Iroquois women found a "souvenir" market to bring in needed income for their families during the early Victorian Era. Raised beadwork whimsies included picture frames, needle, scissor and eyeglass cases, boot shaped pin cushions, whiskbroom and canoe wall hangings, as well as purses and boxes; items that were sold at Niagara Falls and Buffalo. Join Ganondagan's Ronnie Reitter (Seneca) as she leads you through the steps involved in making a beautiful velvet picture frame (5x6") keepsake. Kits will be provided, bring scissors, thread, beading needles, and a sack lunch. Limited spaces available (15). |
