Indigenous Music & Arts Festival

July 27 & 28, 2024 | 10 am - 5 pm

Ganondagan's Indigenous Music & Arts Festival is made possible in part by NYSCA, Wegmans and NTID. It takes place Saturday and Sunday, July 27 - 28, 2024 at Ganondagan State Historic Site in Victor, NY. The annual event showcases Haudenosaunee and Indigenous cultures through dance, music, storytelling, traditional craft demonstrations, a Indigenous Arts Market, children's activities, raffles, guided trail walks, gallery tours, Indigenous food, and more. 

This is a Free Event, but we would appreciate your donation!

Parking is at Fireman's Field which is located off Maple Ave across from St. Patrick's Church (turning after the Pedestrian Crossing sign). A shuttle runs throughout the day from Fireman's Field to the front entrance of the Seneca Art & Culture Center (SACC). See next tab for directions to Fireman's Field.

 

Accessible parking is located in the lot closest to the Seneca Art & Culture Center entrance walking path (Edge of the Woods path). There will be a golf shuttle looping from the parking lot to the SACC and to the Festival Grounds.

 

There is limited parking at Ganondagan festival grounds which is located in the field near the Maple Ave (Rt 444)/Boughton Hill Rd (County Rd 41) intersection.

Performers

This year's festival features Native folk and blues rocker, Keith Secola (Anishinabe) & his Wild Band of Indians, hoop dance champions and performers, the Sinquah Family Dance Troupe  (Hopi/Tewa/Choctaw), Bill Crouse (Seneca) and Haudenosaunee social dancers, Allegany River Indian Dancers, and storytellers Ronnie Reitter (Seneca, Wolf Clan) & Perry Ground  (Onondaga, Turtle Clan).

All Our Relations Tent

This year we will have an "All Our Relations Tent" that will host our invited Indigenous guests with all day talks, music, and demonstrations between Haudenosaunee and Māori artists. We are delighted to host Māori artists, performers, and culture bearers from New Zealand to join us for a weekend of art, enjoyment, and relationship building. The public is invited to join this relaxed atmosphere to observe as the artists create art, converse about art and make music between 10 am -5 pm. Formal performances will be held in the Performance tent at the times listed on the festival schedule.

Festival Merchandise

Seneca artist, Linley Logan and Māori artist, Tāwera Tahuri came together to create this limited edition design for our 2024 Indigenous Music & Arts Festival shirts and tote bags! Both artists are participating in this year's All Our Relations collaborative tent.

 

Linley Logan is a Seneca multi-disciplinary contemporary visual artist whose work has been featured in internationally including in Ganondagan's own Hodinöhsö:ni Art Show. His "Ga'ga Monster Truck" piece is now a part of the Seneca Art & Culture Center permanent collection.

 

Tāwera Tahuri is a mixed media Māori artist whose work has been in galleries around the world. She is an advocate for Indigenous issues and water protection.

 

Festival T-Shirts will be available for purchase during the festival. You can bring your own dark colored shirt/item (must be 50/50 or 100% cotton) and have the design printed on it for $10 or you can purchase one of our shirts and have it printed for $20.

 

Purchase your merchandise ticket in the gift shop and then head out to the T-shirt tent to have your shirt printed!

Artist Demonstrations

​Artist demonstrations will be happening throughout the day in the Creatives Rebuild NY Artist demonstration area. Participating artists are: Dan Hill (Cayuga) silverwork, Tonia Loran Galban (Mohawk) basket making, Angela Ferguson (Onondaga) indigenous foods, Jamie Jacobs (Seneca) quillwork, Lauren Jimerson (Seneca) painting, Marissa Corwin Manitowabi (Seneca) educational displays and activities.
