This purse reflects the peaceful nature of the partridge. I often bead birds in flight, but when a partridge takes flight, it is usually startled or fleeing from predators. For this piece, I chose to depict the partridge in its most peaceful state, walking calmly along the ground beneath tree and bush branches. By keeping the bird grounded, I wanted to honor stillness instead of survival. The branches above create a sense of shelter and protection, allowing the partridge to exist without fear. The feathers incorporated into this piece were given to me by my brother-in-law, adding another layer of connection and care. Like much of my work, this piece carries both family and intention, holding peace not as escape, but as presence.
