Acrylic Paint on Canvas

This acrylic painting on canvas is titled “Together We Remember“.
This piece depicts 7 women of many generations standing upon Turtle Island, all with a gift in hand to benefit and help heal the collective. They hold the medicines of plants, life and love to share not just with their linage, but the world and all its people. They are in a mission of planting seeds of all these elements for future generations to thrive and come together. I was once told that when we choose to heal and move forward we not only help heal ourselves, but we heal our ancestors, 7 generations forward and 7 generations back. This painting proudly displays the Hiawatha Wampum Belt so that we remember our past and the story of peace between the Haudenosaunee nations. Prominent purple and white -the purple representing overcoming hard times and conflict and the white representing peace and a “Good Mind”. In the sky you’ll see grandmother moon and the stars with constellations of Pleiades and Taurus hidden in the imagery. The image of 7 women not only represents the 7 generations, but also is silently representative of the 7 sisters of pleiades storytelling and a reminder to honor and protect our younger generations by helping to guide them by having a good mind, strong heart & fire.
